You don’t have to work it all out on your own.

Whatever has brought you here, counselling offers a calm, confidential space to talk, reflect and begin finding a way forward that feels right for you.

A gentle place to begin

Perhaps you know exactly why you are looking for counselling. Or perhaps you only know that something feels too much, too tangled or simply not quite right.

You do not need to arrive with a diagnosis, a clear explanation or the right words. We can start with what is happening now and with whatever feels most important to you.

Counselling gives you a calm, confidential place to speak honestly, feel heard without judgement and begin making sense of things at a pace that feels manageable.

How I work

A space to begin exactly where you are

For more than twenty years, I have worked alongside people as they find their way through difficult, confusing and painful times.

I won’t arrive with a programme or a fixed idea of who you should become. We work collaboratively, with warmth and honesty, paying attention to what you need and what feels possible.

My approach is person-centred and integrative. That means drawing on different ways of working while keeping you and the relationship we build at the heart of the process.

You do not need to make yourself clearer, stronger or easier to understand before you come.
You are welcome just as you are.

What brings people to counselling

Whatever is bringing you here, we can begin there

There is no right or wrong reason to come to counselling.
Sometimes one part of life is asking for attention; sometimes everything feels connected.

Life feels overwhelming...

Anxiety, stress, low mood or burnout may be taking up more and more space, leaving little room for anything else.

Something has changed...

Loss, illness, separation, work or major life transitions can unsettle the ground beneath us, even when others expect us to move on.

Relationships feel difficult...

You may feel unheard, caught in familiar patterns or unsure how to reconnect. Counselling can help you understand what is happening.

You want to understand yourself...

You may be exploring identity, neurodiversity, earlier experiences or simply wanting to live with more confidence and self-understanding.

WAYS WE CAN WORK

Counselling can be for you, or for the two of you

Some people come to counselling on their own; others come together as a couple.
Both offer space to slow things down, understand what is happening and begin finding a way forward.

A space for you

Individual counselling offers protected time to pause, explore what you are carrying and understand yourself more fully. You may want support with something specific, or space to notice patterns that have been present for longer.

A space for your relationship

Couples counselling gives both of you room to slow difficult conversations down, recognise recurring patterns and hear one another more clearly. It is not about deciding who is right, but understanding what is happening between you.

The counselling relationship

How we might work together

We will talk, and I will listen carefully. Not only to the events you describe, but to how they have affected you and what they mean in your life.

Sometimes we may look back and understand where a familiar feeling or pattern began. At other times, the most helpful thing will be to stay with what is happening now.

I may draw on relational, somatic, mindfulness-based and solution-focused ideas, always in a way that feels relevant to you.

The relationship we build is at the heart of the work

A few questions you may have

Here are some of the questions people often ask. You are welcome to read through them at your own pace, and we can talk about anything else during the free initial consultation.

Only what feels important and manageable for you. I will not press you to talk about anything before you are ready, and it is completely fine if you are unsure where to begin. We can start with whatever feels most present.

No. You can contact me directly, and you do not need a diagnosis or a referral to begin private counselling. If you intend to use health insurance, your insurer may have its own requirements, so it is worth checking your policy first.

I will not tell you how to live your life or make decisions for you. Instead, we will explore what is happening, consider different possibilities and help you find a way forward that feels right for you.

Most people begin with weekly sessions because the regular rhythm can help the work settle. If a different arrangement would suit you better, we can discuss what feels both practical and helpful.

There is no set number. Some people come for short-term support around something specific, while others find longer-term work helpful. We will review this together as we go, so you do not need to decide everything at the beginning.

Yes. Counselling is always your choice, and you can pause or end whenever you want to. Where possible, it can be helpful to talk about this together so that we can understand what you need and bring the work to a thoughtful close.

Individual counselling is £60 for a 50-minute session. Couples sessions are £75 and last up to 60 minutes. A limited number of reduced-rate places may also be available.

We will keep talking openly about how the work feels and whether it is supporting what matters to you. Change is not always immediate or straightforward, but regular reviews give us space to notice what is shifting and whether anything needs to be approached differently.

A simple first step

If you feel we might be a good fit, I'd be very happy to hear from you.

Choosing a counsellor is personal. An initial call is simply a chance to say hello, ask anything you would like to know and see how it feels.
